Tuia Te Maunga Pin
Kaipara Engineering was tasked with engineering a steel frame capable of securely holding Glass Fibre Reinforced Concrete (GRC) panels over a significant span. Given the pin's location on a bridge, it would be constantly exposed to extreme weather conditions, with high winds posing a particular design challenge. The frame needed to be not only structurally sound but also designed for efficient manufacture and installation.
We rose to the challenge by leveraging our expertise in design for manufacture (D4M) and 3D CAD modelling. The steel frame was designed to optimise it for strength and stability while ensuring ease of fabrication. Our specialised fabrication techniques ensured a high-quality, precise build that met the project's rigorous demands.
For this critical structural component, we utilised high-grade steel, chosen for its inherent strength, durability, and resilience against environmental factors.
Thanks to our robust engineering and meticulous fabrication, the Tuia Te Maunga pin was successfully installed, providing a secure and long-lasting framework for this important artistic and structural element. We are delighted to have played a key role in bringing this vision to life, ensuring its stability and beauty for years to come, even in the face of challenging environmental conditions.
